Newsletter from Poland DECEMBER 2007 ENERGY FORUM Participants of the First Polish-Spanish Energy Forum (which took place in Warsaw) claim that although Poland has good conditions for developing wind power stations we do not take advantage of this source of energy. In specialists’ opinion, the renewable energy is expensive. Moreover, Polish regulations do not make it easy for the developers to build such plants. SMALL POWER STATION UPON DUNAJEC A small power station upon the river Dunajec is going to be established soon. The power of this plant is going to be about 10 MW. All the energy produced in this power station is going to be sold to the national energy system. THE OPENING OF THE BIGGEST RECYCLING PLANT IN WROCLAW The biggest recycling plant for segregating rubbish was opened in Wroclaw. The whole cost of this investment was estimated at about 27 million zl. This recycling plant is able to segregate 210 tons of waste a year. This plant is going to take care of Wroclaw and some nearby districts. The main aim of this recycling plant is recycle clean secondary material and to segregate dangerous waste. WATER FROM MINES FOR HEATING Scientists claim that underground water coming mostly from coal mines can be used for heating different council buildings, halls or even for heating roads those dangerous for drivers (as it is already done abroad). JANUARY 2008 IMPLEMENTING A COHESION FOUNDATION FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION More than 8 thousand people took part in National Foundation of Environmental Protection training. The main aim of this meeting was to implement a Cohesion Foundation for Environmental Protection. This foundation supports two sectors: environment and transport. BACK |
